There’s going to be at least one fan of the New York Mets waking up with a smile on Christmas Day.

On Tuesday night, a person by the name of Jay McCroy unveiled his Christmas gift for his son. It turns out he wrapped the Citi Field scoreboard around his television. The finished product was shared on social media, receiving over 1.4 million views and 21,000 likes in less than 24 hours.

“Sensational parenting,” a fan declared.

“This is an incredible gift idea. 10/10 no notes,” another person commented. “The only downside is you have to watch the New York Mets.”

Offseason changes for the Mets.

The Mets kicked off their offseason by trading outfielder Brandon Nimmo to the Texas Rangers for second baseman Marcus Semien. It was a move that fans weren’t exactly thrilled about but at least they understood why the front office wanted to bolster its infield.

Roughly two weeks later, the Mets lost All-Star closer Edwin Diaz to the Los Angeles Dodgers. As if that wasn’t bad enough, Pete Alonso agreed to a five-year, $155 million contract with the Baltimore Orioles.

After signing Jorge Polanco to a two-year, $40 million contract, the Mets sent Jeff McNeil to the Athletics.

Time will tell if the Mets made the right decisions in free agency.
