The women’s tennis team continued its dominant conference run with a 7-0 victory over Brooklyn College in a Saturday afternoon CUNYAC showdown in Brooklyn, New York.

Doubles

The Bearcats set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles flights. Aishika Yadav and Lucia Herranz Sanchez cruised to a 6-0 win at first doubles, while Maria Calvo Prado and Jacqueline Moreno earned a 6-1 victory at second doubles. At the third position, Margaret Kensinger and Malika Khaknazarova battled to a 6-4 triumph to complete the doubles sweep in the seven point format.

Singles

Yadav led the charge in singles play with a 6-2, 6-0 win at the top flight, followed by Herranz Sanchez posting a 6-1, 6-3 victory at second singles. Kensinger was next to finish, earning a 6-2, 6-2 win at sixth singles. Doyeong Lee prevailed in a tight tiebreak at fourth singles 3-6, 6-3, 10-8, while Calvo Prado added a 6-2, 6-0 result at third singles. The seventh and final point came from Maria Rojas, who secured a hard-fought tiebreak victory of 6-1, 7-6 (7-0).

With the win, the Bearcats improve to 5-0 in CUNYAC play, clinching a postseason playoff berth. They will next face Hunter College at noon on Monday in a matchup for first place in the conference standings.
