The National Weather Service released an updated special weather statement at 1:28 a.m. on Sunday until 8 p.m. for Clinton and Essex counties.
“Fine fuels remain very dry across according the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. This, combined with low relative humidity values of 33 to 45 percent and gusty south to southeast winds of 20 to 30 mph, locally up to 35 mph in parts of western Clinton and Essex counties in New York, may have an impact on fire weather conditions today. If any fires were to start the weather and fuel conditions could cause fires to quickly get out of control and be difficult to contain. For more information about the current fire danger rating, any burn restrictions, and wildfire prevention and education, please visit your state forestry or environmental protection website,” states the weather service.
