If you are one of the people who love decorating your home for Halloween, there is a special warning you need to be aware of. As we get ready for some nasty weather coming our way today, you need to be aware of potenial issues with your outdoor decorations.

Halloween Decoration Warning In New York State

Parts of New York could see severe weather today with very gusty winds and rain and that could cause a problem for outdoor Halloween decoration. If you have those tall outdoor skeletons or spiderwebs and spiders outside you are going to want to make sure they are secured or take them down before the storm hits.

Severe Weather Expected Sunday Across New York State

A Gale watch has been issued for the area along Lake Erie and Lake Ontario today, with expected wind gusts to be around 35 knots with waves along the shoreline up to 10 feet. Those winds will also impact your outdoor Halloween decorations as well. The Gale Watch is in place from Sunday afternoon until late Sunday evening.

A wind advisory is also in place for Eastern Franklin, Eastern Chittenden, and Eastern Addison counties, where wind speeds could peak at 50 miles per hour.

Those winds could cause your outdoor decorations to fall down or be blown away. If you don’t want to take down your decorations, you might consider adding more weight or anchoring them down with more stakes or concrete blocks.
