An updated winter weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service on Sunday at 4:37 p.m. valid between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. for Manhattan, Staten Island, Brooklyn and Queens as well as Suffolk and Nassau counties.
“Light freezing rain or freezing drizzle expected. Total ice accumulations around a light glaze,” explains the weather service. “Surface temperatures should rise above freezing by late this evening allowing any precip to change to plain rain.”
“Very slippery sidewalks, roads and bridges are possible,” describes the weather service. “Slow down and use caution while traveling. Prepare for possible power outages. Check local Department of Transportation information services for the latest road conditions.”
