ALBANY — Residents gathered together on Friday to celebrate the opening of Kwanzaa, the multi-day festival of African-American culture and heritage, at the New York State Museum in Albany.
The free event included live drumming, a candlelighting ceremony, line dancing with Mind Body Soul Studio and more. Speakers also highlighted the first principle of Kwanzaa: umoja, or unity.
Kwanzaa continues through Jan. 1.
