The Federal Bureau of Investigation has committed resources to investigate what FBI Director Kash Patel is calling “large-scale fraud,” according to a recent report from Reuters.
In a social media post on Sunday, Patel said that the agency has “surged” personnel and resources into Minnesota in response to what Patel characterized as “the tip of a very large iceberg.”
While Patel’s post did not directly reference any instances of fraud, it pointed to “recent social media reports” which alleged daycare facilities were receiving public funds while being inactive, the outlet reports.
The move comes as the federal government is targeting Minnesota’s Somali community with fraud investigations, according to Reuters.
