CITYWIDE — THE BROOKLYN BOROUGH HALL 4/5, CHURCH AVE. B/Q AND BAY RIDGE 95TH ST. R STATIONS ARE AMONG 10 subway and LIRR stations where accessibility projects were completed during 2025, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced on Wednesday, Dec. 31.
Crews installed new street and platform elevators, replaced stairs and escalators, built new entrances and curb ramps, installed fare arrays and updated signage as part of making these 10 stations fully accessible. These upgrades were the latest of a project that included 39 earlier elevator replacements and 32 escalator replacements in stations across Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx and Long Island, making 2025 the best year on record for completed elevator replacement projects. Moreover, elevator replacement projects were, on average, also completed two months ahead of schedule.
Gov. Hochul credits revenues from the Congestion Pricing plan, which took effect on Jan. 5, 2025. Congestion Pricing is on track to generate over $500 million by the end of the year, allowing the MTA to advance $15 billion in capital improvements.
