John F. Donohue of Montgomery, New York, passed away peacefully at home on December 30, 2025. He was 44. Born on January 6, 1981, in Bronxville, New York, John was the cherished son of Francis P. Donohue and Donna J. Carroll, and the beloved brother of Theresa Donohue and Michael Donohue. 

John’s early years were marked by an active curiosity and a love for learning that never faded. A graduate of Valley Central High School, he furthered his education at the University of San Diego and Siena University, where he proudly earned his degree. John’s commitment to excellence was evident even from a young age—he achieved the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 236, a testament to his determination, leadership, and integrity. 

With a sharp intellect and an ever-inquisitive mind, John was known for his quick wit and humor. An avid reader and devoted sports enthusiast, he could talk endlessly about baseball, sharing his love for the game with friends and family. His deep knowledge of Major League Baseball became something of a legend among those who knew him best. Beyond sports, John was also a Star Wars enthusiast, displaying an encyclopedic knowledge that delighted fellow fans. When he wasn’t exploring a new book or analyzing a game, he found joy in playing his electric guitar, filling those around him with music and laughter. He enjoyed his adventures and times with his remarkable group of lifelong friends.

John will be remembered for his brilliance, kindness, and the effortless way he brought energy and insight to every conversation. He enriched the lives of those around him and leaves behind a legacy of warmth, humor, and a vast amount of knowledge.

He is survived by his father, Francis; mother, Donna; sister, Theresa, brother, Michael, grandparents Jack and Ginger, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of lifelong friends. John’s loved ones will forever hold him in their hearts, honoring a life lived with passion, intelligence, and light.

Visitation will take place Sunday, January 4, 2026, 3pm-7pm at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St., Walden, NY 12586.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, January 5, 2026, at 10:30am at Holy Name of Mary Church, 89 Union St., Montgomery, NY 12549.

Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
