Hawaii welcomes first babies of 2026

  • January 2, 2026

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The first hours of the new year brought bundles of joy to two Hawaii families.

The Queen’s Health Systems had its first baby born in 2026 at The Queen’s Medical Center-Punchbowl on Oahu.

At 3:40 a.m., mom Kristine Miyasato gave birth to a healthy baby girl who weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces, and measured 20 inches.

So far, there’s no name yet for baby girl.

Both mom and dad, Kevyn Yonesaki, are resting comfortably.

At Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center, parents Chelsea Kam and Shayla Sausa, along with grandmother, Christina Folster, welcomed the newest member of their family.

Kam arrived at the hospital Wednesday evening in labor, and baby Jahryzen arrived at 3:59 a.m.

He weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces.

Both mom and baby are healthy, happy, and doing well, the hospital said.
