The King of Queens star Leah Reminitook to Instagram on Wednesday, Dec. 31 to share some candid thoughts about the past 365 days.
“It’s been a hard year,” Remini captioned a selfie on New Year’s Eve. “One marked by losses that feel insurmountable. Losses I still can’t seem to get over. I’m surprised by how physical grief is. By how a heart can actually hurt when I instinctively go to call or text the people who used to be there and aren’t anymore. That moment still catches me off guard.”
“And yet, there were moments of joy and achievements this year too. Real ones. Unexpected ones. I hold both truths at the same time,” she continued, adding, “Tonight, although I have options, and I am deeply aware of how blessed I am to have family and friends I could spend New Year’s Eve with, I am choosing something quieter. I am staying in bed and watching the ball drop.”
“If you are alone tonight, let it be okay. Put on your favorite pajamas. Grab the snack you love. Let yourself rest in your own strength,” Remini told her 3.7 million followers, adding that “it’s okay” to have a quiet night in for whatever reason.
Many of Remini’s friends and fans popped up in the comments section of the post to send her love and to thank her for the post, as many felt her words so deeply.
“Thank you for this. Love you,” said former Dancing With the Stars pro Cheryl Burke.
“This is so profound. Exactly what I needed to hear, so thank you for sharing your personal experience here. Happy New Year, Leah,” someone else said.
“Needed this post, what you wrote and the song has ways been one of my favorites. I lost my mom in July and this season and NYE is so damn hard, all I do is cry, I miss her so much,” a third comment read.
Remini’s Instagram post comes nearly one year after she lost her dear friend, Mike Rinder.
