BOROUGH PARK— A FLATBUSH COUPLE BIRTHED BROOKLYN’S FIRST BABY OF 2026 at Maimonides Health, before dawn on New Year’s Day. Noah Joseph Lewis, weighing seven pounds, five ounces and measuring 20 inches long, was born at 2:22 am on Jan. 1, 2026, at Maimonides. His parents are Chelsea Modeste Lewis and Devin Lewis.

Both mother and baby are doing well under the care of Phyllis Lynn, Certified Nurse Midwife, Simone Chang, Certified Nurse Midwife and Selena Chen, RN. And Noah’s birth turned out to be a surprising coincidence, as Lynn had also delivered mom Chelsea at Maimonides in 1993.
“I feel very blessed to be beginning this year with a new addition to our family,” said Chelsea. “I can’t wait to witness the relationship blossom over the years between Noah and his big sister Jamie.”
Maimonides Health, Brooklyn’s largest healthcare system, delivers approximately 6,000 babies each year, making it one of the busiest labor and delivery programs in New York state.
