Kobe Bufkin is coming off a year where he appeared in ten games for the Atlanta Hawks.

Bufkin Waived By Brooklyn Nets:

Over the summer, Bufkin was traded to the Brooklyn Nets.

However, it’s now been announced that the Nets will waive Bufkin.

Via Michael Scotto of HoopsHype: “The Brooklyn Nets will waive guard Kobe Bufkin, sources told @hoopshype. Bufkin, the 15th pick of the 2023 NBA Draft, was acquired in a trade from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for cash considerations ($110,000). The 22-year-old guard is healthy after two injury-plagued seasons.”

Bufkin was the 15th pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.

His career averages are 5.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists while shooting 37.4% from the field and 22.0% from the three-point range in 27 games.

Via Josh Lloyd: “Kobe Bufkin and Tyler Smith being waived is pretty wild. Throw in Nick Smith and Dariq Whitehead and first round pick and young guys are not getting a long leash these days”

The Nets are coming off another tough season where they were the 12th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 26-56 record.

They missed the NBA playoffs (and play-in tournament).

On October 22, the Nets will play their first game of the 2025-26 season when they visit LaMelo Ball and the Charlotte Hornets in North Carolina.

Via Keith Smith of Spotrac: “Brooklyn waiving Kobe Bufkin will keep the team above the salary floor to open the regular season. It also allows the Nets to keep both Tyrese Martin and Jalen Wilson on the roster. Brooklyn will open the year about $190K over the salary floor. Nets have one open two-way spot.”
