NEWARK — Staten Island Academy opened the new year in dominant fashion, rolling past Newark East Side HS of Paterson, N.J., 66–44, Friday in the second annual New Year’s Ball Tournament at Weequahic High School.
Valentina Li led the way with 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Tigers, who improved to 7-1 overall. Alyssa Lopez matched Li with 19 points and added six steals and five assists.
Rita Moschella chipped in 11 points and five steals, while Adrianna Savary and Margaret Moschella combined for 17 points.
Chloe Factor anchored the interior with a game-high 12 rebounds.
