SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Boston College women’s soccer team secured its first conference win of the season on Sunday afternoon, defeating Syracuse 1–0 at the SU Soccer Stadium.
Boston College (5-6-5, 1-5-2 ACC) broke through in the 33rd minute when sophomore defender Amalia Dray converted a penalty kick for her third goal of the year. Boston College’s defense stood tall, as goalkeeper Olivia Shippee made two saves to lock in her seventh shutout of the season.
The Eagles generated 10 shots, placing five on target, while Syracuse (5-7-4, 1-6-1) registered 11 attempts but could not break through against BC’s defense. Sophomore midfielder Ashley Roberts paced the attack with three shots, two of which were on frame.
Boston College also earned a 5–3 edge in corner kicks and battled through a physical match that featured 16 combined fouls. Dray’s first-half finish proved to be all the Eagles needed to earn their first win in Syracuse since 2017.
Boston College will return home to host Clemson on Friday, Oct. 24, with kickoff scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Newton Soccer Complex.
