BOONVILLE, N.Y. — The recent lake effect snow has encouraged people to participate in winter activities in Central New York.
At Potato Hill Farm in Boonville, more than 100 people enjoyed a program offering free ski and snowshoe rentals.
This program is made possible by a donation that ensures its annual return.
This year, local schools will have the chance to explore the trails at Potato Hill Farm for after-school winter fun.
“Sometime around 2:30 in the afternoon the kids will get here, and they will be in groups and ski until 5:30,” said Potato Hill Farm’s Davis Tuttle. “I think it’s all ages of middle school, which will include new skiers to experts.”
Tuttle added, “The whole reason why we have this is we just want to get people outside exercising and enjoying themselves, especially the young ones who don’t get to do it as much nowadays.”
The trails are open during breaks and on weekends from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
