Former Buccaneers running back Doug Martin died on Saturday, his family announced.
The ex-NFLer was just 36 years old.
Details around Martin’s death remained limited, but the family confirmed the news shortly after TMZ had first broken the story.

“It is with great sadness to inform you all that Doug Martin passed away Saturday morning,” the statement said. ”Cause of death is currently unconfirmed. Please respect our privacy at this time.”
Martin had been a star back at Boise State and earned the nickname the “Muscle Hamster” — do to his powerful, yet smaller stature — during his four years at the program, while rushing for more than 3,400 yards and 43 touchdowns during that span.
He went on to be drafted by the Bucs in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft and rushed for nearly 1,500 yards his rookie season, while also putting up 11 touchdowns.
Martin played six seasons with the Buccaneers and was a two-time Pro Bowler and earning First-Team All-Pro honors in 2015.
One of his most memorable games during his time in Tampa Bay came during his rookie season when he ran for 251 yards and four touchdowns against the Raiders.
Martin played his final season in the NFL with the Raiders in 2018.
In all, the Stockton, Calif., native recorded 5,356 yards and 30 touchdowns during his NFL career and the 4,633 yards he recorded with the Buccaneers is the fourth most all-time by a Tampa Bay running back.

His 26 touchdowns are the third most in franchise history.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the sudden and unexpected passing of Doug Martin,” the Buccaneers said in a statement. “From his record-setting rookie season in 2012 to his multiple Pro Bowl selections during his six seasons as a Buccaneer, Doug made a lasting impact on our franchise.
“He was a fan favorite during hi time in Tampa Bay and was honored as one of the Top 50 Buccaneers of all time for his numerous achievements. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and everyone whom Doug touched throughout his life.”
In a post on X, Boise State wrote, “Rest in peace to a Bronco legend. You will be missed.”
