ELIZABETH, New Jersey (WABC) — A vehicle crashed into Elizabeth High School on Monday morning.
It happened at Bridge and Pearl Streets in Elizabeth around 8:28 a.m.
Elizabeth police say they first spotted the silver car driving erratically on Bridge Street, running a red light at Pearl Street, driving over the curb and sidewalk, before hitting an exterior wall of the Dwyer auditorium of Elizabeth High School.
Students returned from winter break back to the school to resume classes Monday.
Police said, “One student has reported a minor leg injury and will be transported to Beth Israel Hospital for evaluation as a precaution. The driver sustained apparent minor injuries and was taken to University Hospital for treatment.”
The crash remains under investigation.
