The New York Giants stormed out to a 19-0 lead over the Denver Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High on Sunday afternoon, and later carried a 26-8 lead late into the fourth quarter.
That’s when the wheels completely came off.
The Broncos, who were dead in the water, erupted for 33 points over the final 10:00 of the game, while the Giants could only muster 13 in desperation. Multiple missed point-after attempts and unnecessary (failed) two-point conversions left at least four points on the board.
After a week of back-and-forth trash-talk, the Broncos got the last laugh, winning on a last-second field goal, 33-32.
With the loss, the Giants fall to 2-5 on the season and will travel to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles in Week 8.

Here’s how the Week 7 loss went down:
After storming back, the Giants’ defense completely collapsed in the final seconds, giving up nearly 60 yards on four plays, setting up Denver to punch in the game-winning field goal.

In an improbable scenario, a late pass interference and unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, the Giants were set up at the Denver one-yard line. Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, looking for redemption, plunged it in for one yard out, capping off a seven-play, 65-yard drive.
However, kicker Jude McAtamney once again missed the point after attempt.
Giants 32, Broncos 30.
After taking a 19-0 lead and later, a 26-8 lead, the Giants completely collapsed in the fourth quarter. With 1:51 remaining, Broncos quarterback Bo Nix took off for an 18-yard score, capping off a six-play, 68-yard drive.
It was the first lead for Denver all game after the Giants had an 18-point lead with roughly 5:00 remaining.
Broncos 30, Giants 26
With under 4:00 remaining in the game, the Broncos capitalized on Jaxson Dart’s interception with a two-yard touchdown, capping off a four-play, 19-yard drive.
3:51 remains. The Giants once led 19-0.
Giants 26, Broncos 23
Facing a third-and-5, Jaxson Dart made a dire rookie mistake, attempting to force a ball while under pressure. Intended for Theo Johnson, it was picked up and set the Broncos up to make it a one-score game.
Compounding matters, offensive lineman Jermaine Eluemunor was injured on the play and went into the blue medical tent.
With the game slipping away, the Broncos made another desperate rally, driving 74 yards on 13 plays, culminating in a seven-yard touchdown run by Bo Nix. However, the drive ate up 5:01 off the clock.
The Broncos also converted their second two-point conversion of the game.
Giants 26, Broncos 16
Midway through the fourth quarter, following a third-down stop, linebacker Brian Burns was unable to line up and was escorted off the field by trainers. It appears to be an ankle injury.
Burns returned two plays later.
Facing a third-and-17 early in the fourth quarter and the momentum beginning to shift, rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart stepped back and drilled a pass to wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson that went off his hands. The ball bounced right into the waiting arms of tight end Theo Johnson, who took it 41 yards to the house.
A lucky bounce for the Broncos on their earlier drive matched by a lucky bounce for the Giants, which rarely happens. There’s something about Dart that makes things go New York’s way.
Giants 26, Broncos 8
With 14:08 remaining in the game, the Broncos finally punched it into the end zone. A player after Roy Robertson-Harris narrowly missed an interception, quarterback Bo Nix connected with wide receiver Troy Franklin (on a deflection) for a two-yard touchdown.
The Broncos then converted on a two-point conversion attempt.
Cornerback Deonte Banks, replacing the injured Paulson Adebo, was the primary victim on Denver’s eight-play, 78-yard drive.
Giants 19, Broncos 8
The Giants announced that cornerback Paulson Adebo is questionable to return after suffering a knee injury. It’s unclear when the injury was sustained.
With rookie running back Cam Skattebo bruising the Broncos’ defense, the Giants switched it up and went with Tyrone Tracy Jr. on a second-and-6. He burst through the line untouched and took it 31 yards for the score, breaking the game open.
The Giants attempted the two-point conversion, but came up one yard short on a Wan’Dale Robinson catch.
Giants 19, Broncos 0
While attempting to roll out on a second down, rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart planted his feet in an effort to get inside the chasing defender, but his ankle got caught in the grass and rolled. He immediately reached down and grabbed it, prompting a Giants timeout.
However, Dart remains in the game — for now. Russell Wilson was seen warming up.
The Giants have ruled safety Jevon Holland (knee) out for the remainder of the game.
Burns closes out the first half
With the final seconds ticking off the clock, linebacker Brian Burns sent the Giants and Broncos to the locker room with his second sack of the game. He takes over the NFL lead with 9.0.
Giants safety Dane Belton delivered a massive hit, laying out Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton to close out a goal-line stand and give the offense the ball back.
Rookie edge rusher Abdul Carter, who was a late addition to the injury report with a hamstring issue, appeared to suffer a stinger on a second-down tackle. He jumped up and immediately chirped at a Broncos offensive lineman as he ran off the field.
Although he attempted to return to the field, Carter was ushered into the blue medical tent.
Carter was listed as questionable to return.
Giants safety Jevon Holland was injured while making a second-down tackle on Broncos tight end Nate Adkins. He immediately hit the turf and was attended to by trainers.
Holland was eventually ushered into the blue medical tent and was designated as questionable to return with a knee injury.
The Giants’ defense held tight again and quickly got the ball back to the offense, which is where Magic Majxson Dart pulled another ace from his sleeve. He orchestrated a 10-play, 82-yard drive that featured another big catch by wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson and some tough short-yardage gains.
Fittingly, Dart cashed in on the drive by tossing a 13-yard screen to running back Cam Skattebo, who weaved and waved his way to the endzone before bullying a Broncos defender for the score.
Unfortunately for the Giants, kicker Jude McAtamney missed the point-after attempt.
Giants 13, Broncos 0
After absorbing a big (and what should have been illegal) hit, rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart quickly responded with a 44-yard touchdown pass to tight end Daniel Bellinger, who found wide-open space deep down the field. It capped a four-play, 77-yard drive.
Giants 7, Broncos 0
As expected, both defenses have been tight to start the game. Neither team has been able to move the ball effectively and have just one first down apiece. Both offenses are averaging 3.6 yards or fewer per play.
Injury update: Daniel Bellinger
Tight end Daniel Bellinger caught the first pass of the game but suffered a big hit along the sideline. He was clearly shaken up and quickly ushered into the blue medical tent (Brian Daboll did not enter it). In his place, rookie Thomas Fidone took the field for the first time.
Bellinger was initially listed as questionable to return, but cleared concussion protocol and was back on the field.
The Denver Broncos won the opening coin toss and opted to defer. The New York Giants will start the game on offense, while Denver will receive the second-half kickoff.
The New York Giants have officially announced their list of inactives. Notably, rookie edge rusher Abdul Carter (hamstring) is active.
LB Swayze Bozeman (ankle)LB Demetrius Flanningan-Fowles (hamstring)WR Darius Slayton (hamstring)OL John Michael Schmitz (concussion)DL Chauncey Golston (neck)OL Evan NealQB Jameis Winston (emergency QB) Carter good to go?
With inactives still 20 minutes away, all things look good for rookie edge rusher Abdul Carter, who was a late addition to the injury report (hamstring).
Carter looked good during his pre-game warmups and appeared to get a thumbs-up.
