BRONX, N.Y.— Staten Island Academy pulled out a thrilling 63-60 victory over the Fieldston School in a non-conference matchup in the Bronx on Monday.
The Tigers jumped out to an early advantage, leading 33-26 at halftime behind a balanced offensive attack. Fieldston, however, came out strong in the second half, gradually chipping away at the lead and tying the game midway through the fourth quarter. The final four minutes featured seven lead changes, setting up a thrilling finish.
The decisive moment came when Carly Factor drilled a huge 3-pointer with 32 seconds remaining, putting SIA ahead 61-58. Fieldston managed to get within one point on the ensuing possession, but Alyssa Lopez (11 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals) calmly sank two clutch free throws with just 0.5 seconds left to seal the win.
The Tigers relied on a well-rounded performance, with Valentina Li leading the way with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Chloe Factor dominated the glass with 11 boards, while Adrianna Savary, Margaret Moschella, and Rita Moschella combined for 26 points to keep the offense balanced.
With the victory, Staten Island Academy improves to 8-2. The Tigers will look to continue their strong start when they travel to face Leman on Monday, Jan. 12.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The first-place Seagulls improved to 8-0 in the PSAL 3A Brooklyn/Staten Island division with the home win on Tuesday.
Eva Paraskevadis led the way with 13 points and was followed by Amina Elmazi’s nine markers.
Head coach Peter LaMarca’s club, which plays at Lafayette Thursday, led 14-2 at the half.
New Dorp 59, New Utrecht
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Olivia Andruszkow recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards as the Centrals won the PSAL 4A game Tuesday at home.
Alessia Ferrante scored 11 points and Ava Quigley added nine.
Leading by 11 at halftime, the Centrals went on a 20–0 run to begin the third quarter.
“It was a total commitment on the defensive side that turned the tide for us,” said ND head coach Frank Guglielmo. “It was a big confidence builder for our team.”
