A Jersey City born and bred business owner has launched their newest endeavor on a Downtown corner as Butter is serving up their small batch baked goods and coffees out of a cozy space.

The bakery, which launched late last year, comes from Hybrid Coffee owner and Jersey City local Evan Santiago. Hybrid Coffee started out as a mobile coffee cart around Jersey City before opening their brick-and-mortar spot at 398 Manila Avenue, and Butter is hoping to replicate that success with what they describe as “global pastries.”

Highlights of their goodies include a variety of croissants, like a pistachio Nutella or a guava variety. Other unique offerings include a banana biscoff doughnut and what is becoming their trademark Masa Azul, a Mexican-inspired blue corn bread topped with silky buttercream, and Honeywell with coarse salt.

Butter has brought much of the beverage program from Hybrid Coffee with them to their new digs, which is now open weekdays from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m., with a later 8 a.m. opening on weekends.

The bakery is located at 156 Brunswick Street, and the road’s intersection with 4th Street, and can be followed on Instagram at the handle @butterjc for further updates.
