Quarterback is the most important position in sports. For the New York Jets, it has also been a revolving door, with no long-term answer under center over the past decade.

After the failed Justin Fields experiment, Gang Green is yet again seeking a quarterback. Armed with two first-round picks in this year’s NFL draft, No. 2 and 16 overall, and a lucrative amount of cap space, the organization has a ton of different options to address the need.

Speaking to reporters at the Jets’ end-of-season press conference alongside head coach Aaron Glenn, general manager Darren Mougey claims the team will “exhaust” all options.

“We will exhaust every option. Free agency, the League, and obviously the draft, we will exhaust that and have a good solution for the New York Jets,” said Mougey.

Per Over The Cap, the Jets have over $74 million in cap space this offseason, which ranks sixth in the league. Along with their two first-round picks within the top 20, they also own two second-round selections: their own (33) overall and 44, acquired from the Dallas Cowboys in the Quinnen Williams trade.

That is a lot of ammunition to work with, and New York not only has the opportunity to land their quarterback but also build valuable infrastructure around that signal-caller.

There are options. The Jets could sign a veteran on the free agent market while also drafting a quarterback high, or explore the trade market, a path that fuels fan dreams of a blockbuster move for a star such as Joe Burrow or Lamar Jackson.

As Gang Green enters a pivotal offseason, the futures of Mougey and Glenn will be tied to the quarterback the organization ultimately chooses.
