Freddy’s Tribeca wine bar soft opens this week

Freddy’s Tribeca, the diminutive wine bar from the owners of Chambers Street Wines, which has been in one location or another on Chambers since 2001, will run a soft-open Wednesday through Friday at 76 Chambers, the former Blue Spoon Coffee space. The official launch is Saturday, October 25.

The spot is tiny — 500 square feet — but fits a bar, two tables and 20 seats. No kitchen — and they only have a beer & wine license. Of course I fully endorse the name, but it actually honors the partnership between Eben Lillie from Chambers Street Wines and longtime friend of the shop Fred Walley.

The bar will offer wines by the glass and bottle, with a limited food menu (cheese boards, charcuterie boards, dessert samplers, etc.) and will eventually develop a program of special events with rare bottles and back-vintages. For those details, sign up for the emails from Chambers Street Wines here.

Chambers Street Wines moved across the street to 79 Chambers in 2024. Blue Spoon closed in March 2024.
