The New York Giants will interview former Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce for their head coaching vacancy Thursday night and Friday, reports ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Pierce, a standout linebacker for the Giants from 2005-2009, was a key member of the team’s Super Bowl XLII championship squad that upset the undefeated New England Patriots.

Known for his leadership and intensity as a player, Pierce transitioned to coaching, eventually taking over as the Raiders’ interim head coach in 2023 before earning the full-time role. His tenure in Las Vegas ended after the 2024 season.

By the time Pierce meets with general manager Joe Schoen and ownership, the Giants will have already completed interviews with interim head coach Mike Kafka, Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski, and Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris.

Once Pierce’s interview is over, the Giants will have complied with the league’s Rooney Rule.
