STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Xavier Farley posted a triple-double and head coach Danny Lee became CSI/McCown’s all-time wins leader after the Dragons posted a 66-46 PSAL 3A victory over visiting Petrides Thursday in New Springville.

Farley, a junior, finished with 11 points, 15 rebounds and 12 blocks for the Dragons, who improved to 8-7 overall, including 5-4 in league play.

CSIM had three other players finish with double digits in points, including Pat Tucker (16 points, 4 steals), Danny O’Connor (14 points, five assists), Stanley Kushnir (11 points, five assists).

Lee, who is in his ninth season overall (eight not including the abbreviated 2020-21 schedule because of the pandemic), notched his 69th victory to surpass ex-coach Ray Palma as CSIM’s all-time wins leader.

“Breaking the record is about all the great young men I’ve been honored to coach and having a dedicated coaching staff,’’ said Lee. ”Especially assistant coach Larry Tirone, who has helped improve every member of our program — players, managers and coaches over the eight seasons we’ve been together.”

Lee also praised his predecessor.

“I’m forever thankful to Ray Palma for hiring me as the first JV head coach in 2011,’’ added Lee. ”I also assisted Ray for five seasons on the varsity before coaching McKee/Staten Island Tech’s JV for a season before returning to become CSIM’s varsity coach prior to the 2017-18 season.

“The number of wins is far less significant to the number of relationships I’ve formed with administrators, players, parents and the community throughout these eight seasons.’’

Daynell Rowland and Sonyboy Zintamus led Petrides (3-11, 2-7 PSAL) with 16 and 12 points, respectively.

CSIM, which defeated Petrides for the third time this season (including Christmas Tournament game), wasted little time building a double-digit lead in the first quarter.

O’Connor scored 10 points, including both of his treys, and Farley and Tucker added six points apiece as the Dragons raced to a 26-12 lead at quarter’s end.

Lee credited his team’s defense for the victory.

“The defensive effort was tremendous tonight and the result of two great practices before this game,’’ he said. “We were focused on stopping Rowland after his 42-point performance vs. Tottenville on Monday and we did a great job holding him to five points at halftime.’’

The Dragons picked up where they left off in the second period as Tucker’s eight points (two treys) helped them take a 41-25 lead into the half and they cruised the rest of the way.

“We have won three in a row, four of our last five and it’s in direct correlation of sharing the ball and increasing our defensive intensity,’’ Lee continued. ”Xavier Farley was dominant on the defensive end like he has been all season, including a career-high 12 blocks.’’

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Point guard Chris Albano scored a game-high 24 points and junior Clevi Hoxha added a career-high 18 markers as the Falcons cruised to the PSAL 4A victory over the visiting Kangaroos in Sea View.

Wagner never took its foot off the pedal in the second half as six different players found the scoring column in the third quarter. Albano scored four and Humes-James and Djonbalic each added a three as Lanigan’s troops built a 54-40 advantage going into the fourth and never looked back.
