NYC Department of Education employee arrested on child endangerment charge in Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – A 23-year-old New York City Department of Education employee was arrested Friday afternoon on a child endangerment charge, according to police.

The NYPD said Xavier Smith was taken into custody at approximately 12:46 p.m. within the confines of the 120th Precinct while on duty. Smith faces one count of endangering the welfare of a child.
