STATEN ISLAND, NY — The Staten Island Media Group recently celebrated multiple victories, receiving awards and recognition for their 2024 campaigns and seeing one of their own named president of a local organization.
The Executive Club of Staten Island celebrated its 10th year at a recent holiday party, where it announced Dan Ryan, the senior advertising director of Staten Island Media Group, as its 2026 president.
The non-profit networking group has grown from 10 founding members in 2015 to more than 40 professionals representing various industries across the borough.
“It’s an honor to simply be a part of this group,” said Ryan. “I’m truly proud of all that we’ve accomplished thus far and look forward to what we’ll achieve as a group this coming year.”

Ryan will lead alongside Vice President Brian Licata of Marvel Consults, Co-Secretaries Massimo DiDonna and Renee DeMatteo of Merge Event Solutions and Treasurer Justin St. John of JSJ CPA’s LLC.
Over the past decade, the organization has donated tens of thousands of dollars to local nonprofits and developed educational seminars on leadership. The club has partnered with various organizations, including The Carl V Bini Memorial Fund, Meals On Wheels of Staten Island, The South Shore BID and Catholic Charities of Staten Island.
New York News Publishers Association awards
Along with this honor, the Advance/SILive.com’s advertising team swept the 2024 New York News Publishers Association awards contest, taking home nine awards across multiple advertising and content categories.
The group competed in the 25,000-49,999 circulation category and earned recognition for work ranging from traditional print advertising to innovative digital content.
The creative work demonstrated versatility across multiple platforms and formats. The wins included awards for best color ad, most effective use of paid small and large space, and both static and animated online advertisements.
The Best Color Ad award went to David Cohen, Dan Ryan, Harry Johnson, SI Media Group Creative Team, Rachel Ellison-Conaway and Matt Fleming.
The Most Effective Use of Paid Small Space award went to Alaa Selim, Dan Ryan and Robert King.
The Most Effective Use of Paid Large Space award went to Alaa Selim, Dan Ryan and Kara Scandaglia.
The Best Online Ad (Static) award went to Hilary Embrey, Dan Ryan, Kara Scandaglia, Rachel Ellison-Conaway and Matt Fleming.
The Best Online Ad (Animated) award went to Dan Ryan, David Cohen, SI Media Group Creative Team, Rachel Ellison-Conaway and Matt Fleming.
The Best Use of Video award went to David Cohen, Dan Ryan, Rachel Ellison-Conaway and Matt Fleming.
The Best Custom Sponsored Content Piece award went to David Cohen, Dan Ryan, Robert King, Ana Gonzalez and John Saccenti.
Lastly, the Best Innovative Idea (Shared via Video Platform for Entrants) award went to Dan Ryan, Chris Scott, Robert King and SI Live Studios.
The staff collectively received the Charmaine Ushkow Award for Advertising Excellence, the contest’s highest honor recognizing overall achievement in advertising.
