The mayor and his wife, Rama Duwaji, have officially made Gracie Mansion their residence.

They will no longer be Queens residents but Upper East Siders.

“We are so grateful to all of those who have already welcomed us to the Upper East Side, and I’m delighted to be back in the borough where I grew up, within walking distance of many of the museums that I went to as a teenager in this city,” Mamdani said.

The couple will now go from living in a rent-stabilized one-bedroom apartment in Astoria to an 11,000-square foot home that has housed many of the city’s mayors.

“One thing that we will change is we will be installing a few bidets into Gracie Mansion. That’s an aspirational hope. But let’s see if we can get it done,” the mayor said.

Another hope Mamdani has is getting a cat.

Some residents told NY1 they look forward to seeing the mayor walking around the neighborhood.

Monday will mark Mamdani’s first night in the home that is known to have some paranormal visitors.

“A lot of people have been talking about ghosts. I haven’t yet met the ghosts or heard from the ghosts,” he said.

As for the apartment in Astoria, Mamdani said his lease ends this month, coinciding with his move to Gracie Mansion.
