A new play from actor-writer Rodney Hicks, titled inhaleEXHALE, will get a one-night-only reading at NYC cabaret venue The Laurie Beechman Theatre February 23. Josh Rhodes (Beau) is directing.

Set at a museum exhibit called the “Understanding America Tour,” the work unfolds as a series of interconnected vignettes as four tour guides confront the various forces that both unite and divide us as a country. The play was previously produced as FLAMEBROILED, or the ugly play at Colorado’s Local Theatre Company in 2019.

The upcoming performance will feature Christopher J. Hanke (How to Succeed…), Crystal Lucas Perry (Ain’t No Mo’), Michael James Scott (Aladdin), and Elizabeth Stanley (Jagged Little Pill).

Hicks is primarily known as a stage actor, creating the role of Bob in the original company of Come From Away and also appearing on the Main Stem in The Scottsboro Boys, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Rent, the latter as part of the historic opening night ensemble.

Tickets are at TheBeechman.com. More information about the show is at inhaleEXHALE.online.
