Spectrum News will allow all viewers free access to watch Gov. Kathy Hochul’s 2026 State of the State address on Tuesday, Jan. 13.

The speech will mark Hochul’s fifth State of the State since taking office.

This year’s address is expected to focus on a plan to move New York toward universal child care, including making pre-kindergarten fully universal, expanding programs for 3-year-olds in New York City and introducing pilot programs for 2-year-olds in parts of the state.

Other proposals expected to be outlined include measures to crack down on so-called “ghost guns,” new online protections for children that would restrict AI chatbots and a plan to lower car insurance costs by targeting staged accidents.

Spectrum News’ special coverage will begin at 1 p.m., hosted by “Inside City Hall” anchor Errol Louis and “Capitol Tonight” anchor Susan Arbetter.

Viewers will also be able to watch for free on Spectrum News digital platforms.
