HARLEM, NY — New York Governor Kathy Hochul said in her “State of the State” address Tuesday that more changes are coming to the still-in-progress Second Avenue extension of the Q train.
Right now, the Second Avenue Subway ends at East 96th Street and is adding stops at 106th Street, 116th Street and 125th Street.
On Tuesday, Hochul said that once the planned extension to 125th Street is completed in September 2032, workers will build another addition to the Q train line that will head three stops west along 125th Street.
This plan is expected to serve nearly 240,000 daily riders and intersect with seven north-south subway lines, Hochul said.
“New Yorkers deserve a world-class transit system,” Hochul said.
The Governor plans to include the funding for the design and engineering phase in the FY27 Executive Budget, she said.
