Martin Muntzel, a biology professor at Lehman, and Elsie Tai, are longtime friends who met through dancing. Muntzel started dancing in 1995, and Tai began in tango more than a decade ago. Tai described them as “activity junkies” who love to go ice skating and mountain biking, and are unable to stand still once music starts playing. Muntzel said he appreciates the complexity of salsa music. “They have these syncopated rhythms where it changes all the time, and what the result is is that it grabs you and makes you dance.”
