2025 Chillicothe High School softball Lady Hornets senior catcher Charley Peniston is embraced and hoisted in glee by junior pitcher Landry Marsh after a game-ending strikeout gave CHS the Class 3 state championship at SpringfieldÕs Meador Park early Saturday afternoon. Three times previously a state runnerup, including PenistonÕs freshman season, Chillicothe completed a 29-7 season with a 1-0 victory over Doniphan in the title game with the Marsh-Peniston battery having collaborated to record 13 strikeouts while holding the Donettes to one hit and one baserunner.
