(WBNG) \u2014 More than $100 million in state funding will advance major transportation and freight line projects across New York state as part of the state\u2019s passenger and freight rail assistance program.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">More than $3 million will go to the New York, Susquehanna and Western Railway to construct one mile of new track and two turnouts to be used as a serving yard track in Onondaga County.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cNew York\u2019s freight rail network is vital to our economy, and these investments represent a down payment on a greener, safer and more productive state,\u201d Governor Hochul said. \u201cNew York is a national leader in freight rail, which is a fuel-efficient method to transport goods throughout the state and across the country. Investing in key freight infrastructure is a step forward in reducing New York\u2019s emissions while modernizing our rail system.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The project will help grow regional rail traffic, including the Syracuse Interchange with CSX railway.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 WWNY.
