Each year, the museum hosts festivals honoring <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brooklynpaper.com\/brooklyn-pays-tribute-to-mlk-jr-2026\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">holidays<\/a> and cultural <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brooklynpaper.com\/brooklyn-childrens-museum-celebrates-caribbean-culture\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">heritage<\/a> from the borough\u2019s many communities, including Kwanzaa, Eid al-Fitr, Holi, Lunar New Year, Dia de los Muertos, Tu BiShvat and Indigenous Peoples\u2019 Day.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The festivals typically feature live performances, art-making workshops, storytelling and food, offering children and caregivers an interactive way to learn about cultures beyond their own while celebrating traditions rooted in their families and neighborhoods.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-236585\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/BCMkwanzaa.webp.jpeg\" alt=\"Brooklyn Children's Museum\" width=\"680\" height=\"453\"  \/>Brooklyn Children\u2019s Museum hosts a variety of cultural programming throughout the year. Edwards, president and CEO of Brooklyn Children\u2019s Museum, in a statement. \u201cWe are so grateful to the Ponce De Leon Foundation for its generous support, which enables BCM to create these joyful opportunities for children to learn about their world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The museum\u2019s cultural festivals have become a cornerstone of its programming, reflecting Brooklyn\u2019s reputation as one of the most culturally diverse counties in the country. By centering children and families, the events aim to foster cross-cultural understanding at an early age through play, creativity and shared experiences.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Madeline V. Photo courtesy of Winston Williams\/Brooklyn Children\u2019s Museum\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Cultural Festivals at Brooklyn Children\u2019s Museum create meaningful opportunities for children and families to connect across cultures and generations,\u201d Marquez said. \u201cPonce De Leon Foundation is pleased to support this work and to help ensure that young people can experience the richness of global traditions in an environment that is welcoming, educational, and fun.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Ponce de Leon Foundation aims to \u201cstrengthen the communities served by Ponce Bank by providing funding to support charitable causes and organizations located within any county in which the Bank has a branch office,\u201d according to its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.poncedeleonfoundation.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">website<\/a>, with a particular focus on youth and seniors, affordable housing, social services, economic development, education, healthcare and cultural events.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1899 as the world\u2019s first children\u2019s museum, the Brooklyn Children\u2019s Museum is the city\u2019s largest institution designed specifically for children and families.
