\u201cIt\u2019s a bad situation for everyone involved. I could get emotional, but it won\u2019t solve the problem,\u201d Brooklyn resident Desiree Jean-Jerome said.<\/p>\n

\u201cConsular officers will not approve or print a visa for a future resident of the United States,\u201d Alfaro said.<\/p>\n
That includes people coming to the U.S. for work.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf someone had secure employment in the United States,\u201d Alfaro said, \u201cthey will not be given a visa to come and work in the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n
The policy will also impact family reunification.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf a parent of a United States citizen or a spouse was waiting to come to the United States to join their spouse or their child, they wouldn\u2019t be able to do so,\u201d Alfaro said.<\/p>\n
Alfaro says even some applicants who were already approved could be stuck if they never received a printed visa.<\/p>\n
\u201cThose unlucky applicants who were approved, but have not physically received the visa printed will also not receive it because printing visas has also been suspended,\u201d Alfaro said.<\/p>\n
\u201cLife is on pause for you. I don\u2019t know what else to say. It sucks,\u201d Jean-Jerome said.<\/p>\n
