The war on junk fees is far from over, and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani says he\u2019s ready to crack down.\u00a0<\/p>\n
On January 5, he signed an executive order creating a new \u201cCitywide Junk Fee Task Force.\u201d Overseen by the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection, the task force will develop new rules, investigate violations, and make recommendations for future legislation.<\/p>\n
Its reach is broad, targeting everything from subscriptions to concert tickets. The travel industry is likely to face increased scrutiny, with the Mayor\u2019s office specifically calling out airline bookings in a press release.<\/p>\n
