In a post to X shortly after 10 a.m. on Thursday morning<\/a>, the official account wrote: \u201cYesterday, we did not meet the standard of excellence you expect and that we expect of ourselves.\u201d <\/p>\nThe statement went on to say that the company will provide each affected customer with a $20 credit to its account, though it \u201cisn\u2019t meant to make up for what happened. No credit really can. But it\u2019s a way of acknowledging your time and showing that this matters to us.\u201d<\/p>\n
The outage knocked phones on the service out of order, with some users reporting seeing \u201cSOS\u201d in the area of their cellphone screen where they would normally see service bars.<\/p>\n
The outage spanned most of the day Wednesday but was reported to be resolved around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday night. <\/p>\n
Most of the customers impacted were along the East Coast, according to Downdetector. The cities that experienced the most trouble were Atlanta, G.A.; Charlotte, N.C.; Philadelphia, P.A.; Miami, F.L.; and New York City, N.Y. <\/p>\n
Customers across platforms voiced their discontent with the abrupt and lengthy outage. <\/p>\n
During the throes of the outage, Verizon\u2019s competition took the opportunity to throw some shade on the company. <\/p>\n
