A brazen trio robbed a Manhattan Pok\u00e9mon shop at gunpoint \u2013 making off with more than $100,000 in rare trading cards \u2013 as dozens gathered for a community event, according to cops and employees.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Footage of the shocking heist obtained by WABC<\/a> shows the hooded, masked suspects \u2013 wearing anime-themed backpacks \u2013 barging into Pok\u00e9 Court on West 13th Street near Washington Street in the Meatpacking District where about 40 people gathered around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday.<\/p>\n The crew, including one suspect armed with a gun, used hammers to smash the glass covering the displays inside the shop, which just opened in early November, the footage shows.\u00a0<\/p>\n The brazen trio, one armed with a gun, barged into the brand-new Meatpacking District Pok\u00e9 Court shop around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday. The Poke Court \/ Instagram<\/p>\n Spewing threats as they raided the store, the trio eventually made off with more than $116,000 in Pok\u00e9mon cards, $1,000 cash and a cell phone belonging to a 27-year-old woman, cops said.\u00a0<\/p>\n The rare, stolen cards \u2013 the oldest dating back to 1999 and the newest from 2016 \u2013 depicted the\u00a0 characters Treecko, Charizard, Pikachu and Ho-Oh, according to images posted to the store\u2019s Instagram story.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cEveryone here is safe,\u201d Courtney Chin, the founder of Pok\u00e9 Court, said in a video<\/a> posted to the store\u2019s Instagram, with the smashed display behind her. <\/p>\n The stolen cards depicted the\u00a0 characters Treecko, Charizard, Pikachu and Ho-Oh The Poke Court \/ Instagram<\/p>\n \u201cAll of our customers, employees and friends, they are all safe, so that is the No. 1 priority,\u201d Chin said. \u201cSecondly, it was a really bad day.
