According to officials, 10 people were hurt in total \u2014 eight pedestrians, along with the driver and passenger inside the truck

Police say one victim was pinned during the impact<\/p>\n
She was just feet away from the crash on Eighth Avenue around 4 p.m. as pedestrians scrambled to get out of the way.<\/p>\n
According to officials, 10 people were hurt in total \u2014 eight pedestrians, along with the driver and passenger inside the truck.<\/p>\n
\u201cOnly one person was pushed up against the wall. But it was like mad people [who] were still hurt,\u201d Elice said.<\/p>\n
Police say one victim was pinned during the impact.<\/p>\n
Moments later, EMTs rushed to the scene, escorting several of the injured to nearby hospitals.<\/p>\n
The mangled metal shows how forceful the collision was.<\/p>\n
Debris scattered across the avenue as investigators shut down several blocks to piece together what happened.<\/p>\n
\u201cI [heard] a loud bang, and I came outside,\u201d Charlene Hunter, who works nearby, said. \u201cBoom!\u201d<\/p>\n
For those nearby, the sound alone was enough to stop them in their tracks.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe called the ambulance. They got here in a good amount of time,\u201d Hunter said.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for Ryder tells NY1 the truck was leased to a third-party business \u2014 noting the company rents and leases commercial vehicles that often display the Ryder logo.<\/p>\n
By the time the dust settled, witnesses said they were just grateful the outcome wasn\u2019t worse.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverybody is blessed. Everybody is alive, so that\u2019s the best thing about it,\u201d Elice said.<\/p>\n
