{"id":101935,"date":"2026-01-16T03:35:06","date_gmt":"2026-01-16T03:35:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/101935\/"},"modified":"2026-01-16T03:35:06","modified_gmt":"2026-01-16T03:35:06","slug":"16-year-old-boy-arrested-for-fatal-collision-that-killed-queens-man-on-li-expressway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/101935\/","title":{"rendered":"16-year-old boy arrested for fatal collision that killed Queens man on LI Expressway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 16-year-old boy was arrested Thursday for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2025\/09\/27\/boy-15-driving-suv-on-lie-rear-ends-motorcyclist-in-deadly-queens-collision-nypd\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a fatal collision that claimed the life of a Queens motorcyclist<\/a> on the Long Island Expressway, cops said.<\/p>\n<p>The teen suspect, whose name is being withheld due to his age, is charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, assault and leaving the scene of an accident without reporting the Sept. 26 crash that killed 30-year-old Luis Mareno, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect was only 15 when he rear-ended Mareno\u2019s 2020 Triumph RS motorcycle around 12:40 a.m while driving a black 2019 Mitsubishi SUV west on the expressway near exit 22A in Corona, cops said.<\/p>\n<p>Police said the crash sent Mareno flying off his bike and into the path of a 2015 Toyota Sienna, which struck him as it traveled in the same direction.<\/p>\n<p>Mareno\u2019s motorcycle then spun across three lanes, striking an unoccupied 2017 Infinite Q50 stopped on the shoulder of the expressway, cops said.<\/p>\n<p>Mareno died at the scene.
