Photo: Mary Frost, Brooklyn Eagle<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">BROOKLYN HEIGHTS \u2014 BELOVED BROOKLYN DIVE BAR Montero Bar &amp; Grill, at 73 Atlantic Ave. near Hicks Street, has been sold to Crew hospitality group, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/07\/business\/montero-bar-amp-grill-to-get-new-life-as-it-marks-90-years-on-brooklyn-waterfront\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/07\/business\/montero-bar-amp-grill-to-get-new-life-as-it-marks-90-years-on-brooklyn-waterfront\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1768495066167000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1UaJYp7QUNHw4aaNEg-Krn\">New York Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The bar, founded by Joseph and Pilar Montero almost 90 years ago and now run by their son Pepe, was once the favorite hangout of the sailors and longshoremen who worked the nearby docks. They brought mementos of their lives at sea \u2014 photographs, ship models, life preservers \u2014 to their home-away-from-home, where they remain still.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-361658\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Montero-Bar-03-interior-Mary-Frost-600x450.jpg\" alt=\"The interior of Montero Bar &amp; Grill.
