A new restaurant from the owner of Greenpoint\u2019s\u00a0Citro\u00ebn<\/a>, a French bistro that closed in November 2024, has opened in Williamsburg.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Last May, Greenpointers reported that Citro\u00ebn\u2019s owner Dawn Eldridge aimed to open her latest project called The Sparrow<\/a> in August.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Sparrow is located at 185 Broadway in the Forman Building, which once housed the Sparrow Shoe Company.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The new restaurant was named after the shoe company\u2019s owner, James R. Sparrow, who was also the designer of the building.<\/p>\n

Eldridge calls The Sparrow \u201ca space designed for a beautiful martini paired with pristine oysters or caviar.\u201d <\/p>\n

The newcomer\u2019s menu includes a full raw bar with seafood towers and crudos, alongside a variety of small and large plates.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Eldridge has resurrected favorites from Citro\u00ebn like the burger topped with caramelized onions, the steak frites, and the foie gras. <\/p>\n

The Sparrow also introduces new items like a deconstructed lobster roll with tarragon cr\u00e8me fra\u00eeche and pickled grapes, and aji amarillo potato croquettes.<\/p>\n

The Sparrow\u2019s interior features a 25-foot long bar backed by a growing library of about 1,000 spirits. <\/p>\n

Eldridge told Greenpointers that she wants The Sparrow to share the same intimate coziness that was apparent at Citro\u00ebn, but have a \u201cmore refined, high-design Art Deco aesthetic.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOpening weekend was truly lovely; it was wonderful to see so many friends we haven\u2019t seen since the closing of Citro\u00ebn,\u201d Eldridge told Greenpointers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe new neighborhood has been incredibly receptive and the feedback has been great,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhile we certainly miss Greenpoint, we are very excited about our new home at The Sparrow.\u201d<\/p>\n
