A cousin of the man accused of killing<\/a> a healthcare executive signed a deal with the professional soccer team Brooklyn FC.<\/p>\n

Peter Mangione, 24, whose cousin Luigi Mangione is awaiting trial for the Dec. 4, 2024, murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, inked a deal with the United Soccer League squad<\/a> that will begin its first year in the league in March. The deal is pending league and federation approval, the team announced.<\/p>\n

Mangione played collegiately at Penn State, was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year in 2021 and 2023, and finished his career with 32 goals.<\/p>\n

Mangione suited up for FC Cincinnati 2 in 2025, making 26 starts and scoring two goals with 5 assists.<\/p>\n

Brooklyn FC starts its 2026 campaign at home in the USL Championship on March 8 against Indy Eleven.<\/p>\n

Luigi Mangione, who has pleaded not guilty, has been at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn and faces a second-degree murder charge and multiple counts of illegal weapons possession.<\/p>\n
