Momentum in competitive New York House contests is tilting more to the Democrats, according to a nonpartisan group that ranks congressional races.<\/p>\n
In two major changes, the Cook Political Report Thursday changed the rating <\/a>for GOP Rep. Mike Lawler\u2019s<\/a> Hudson Valley seat in the 17th Congressional District from \u201clean Republican\u201d in November to \u201ctossup.\u201d<\/p>\n US Rep. Laura Gillen\u2019s<\/a> seat in the 4th Congressional District from the tossup column to \u201clean Democrat.\u201d<\/p>\n Elsewhere, Cook moved seats in the 18th and 22nd Congressional districts upstate from the \u201clikely Democratic\u201d column to the \u201csafe Democratic\u201d column.<\/p>\n Democratic Reps. Pat Ryan<\/a> and John Mannion<\/a> are the incumbents in the 18th and 22nd districts, respectively.<\/p>\n In the 17th District, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee crowed that the rating shift to tossup was \u201cjust the latest sign that Republican Mike Lawler is more vulnerable than ever.\u201d<\/p>\n DCCC spokesperson Riya Vashi said that after supporting President Trump\u2019s agenda<\/a>, voters \u201care more ready than ever to show [Lawler] the door this November.\u201d<\/p>\n Rep.
