{"id":103067,"date":"2026-01-17T05:13:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-17T05:13:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/103067\/"},"modified":"2026-01-17T05:13:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-17T05:13:11","slug":"teen-underage-driver-charged-with-manslaughter-in-september-nyc-crash-that-killed-motorcyclist-30-cops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/103067\/","title":{"rendered":"Teen underage driver charged with manslaughter in September NYC crash that killed motorcyclist, 30: cops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/15\/us-news\/teen-who-injured-six-in-hit-and-run-crash-including-woman-whose-legs-were-amputated-headed-to-prison\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">underage driver<\/a> was arrested and<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/31\/us-news\/reckless-driver-who-allegedly-struck-killed-nyc-car-wash-worker-is-busted-2-years-later-cops\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> charged with manslaughter<\/a> this week in connection to a September crash in Queens that killed a 30-year-old motorcyclist back in September, cops said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 16-year-old \u2013 who was only 15 at the time of the collision \u2013 was driving a black 2018 Mitsubishi SUV when he allegedly rear-ended Luis Mareno, 30, who was riding a black 2020 Triumph motorcycle on the westbound <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/12\/02\/metro\/13-injured-in-multi-vehicle-crash-on-the-long-island-xway\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Long Island Expressway<\/a> at Exit 22A near 108th Street in Corona around 12:45 a.m. Sept. 26, police said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The impact caused Mareno to fall off his bike, only to be struck by a 2015 Toyota Sienna with a 30-year-old woman behind the wheel, authorities said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.33333333;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38207041\" width=\"787\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/495-long-island-expressway-lie-119044542.jpg\" alt=\"Interstate 495, Long Island Expressway, LIE, road sign with directions to New York City or Long Island. \" class=\"wp-image-38207041\"  \/>The teen, who was 15 at the time, allegedly rear-ended 30-year-old motorcyclist Luis Mareno on the Long Island Expressway Sept. 26.
