NEW YORK (PIX11) \u2014 Snow and rain are expected to put a damper on the weekend<\/a> of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.<\/p>\n

The National Weather Service warns travelers to use extra caution<\/a> if they plan to venture out into the wintry mix this weekend. Areas throughout New York can expect to see accumulations between 1 and 3 inches, according to PIX11 forecasters.<\/p>\n

Expected snow accumulations for NYC, Long Island, Westchester, and Hudson Valley<\/p>\n

Residents in New York City and Nassau County will likely see less than an inch<\/a> of snow accumulation, while parts of Westchester could get up to an inch and a half of snow, NWS shows.<\/p>\n

Further up, parts of the Hudson Valley could get 4 inches or more of accumulation, PIX11 meteorologists forecast.<\/p>\n

Snow timeline<\/p>\n

According to the National Weather Service, rain and snow will alternate over New York on Saturday until at least 4 p.m. After a brief pause at night, a second round of the wintry mix is expected for early Sunday until about 4 p.m.<\/p>\n

Rain will give way to all snow for the rest of Sunday afternoon until 1 a.m. Monday morning.<\/p>\n

The clouds are expected to finally clear on Monday, offering some sun with highs near 35 degrees.<\/p>\n
