STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 A Tottenville homeowner said a vehicle crashed into his house on Arthur Kill Road during Saturday\u2019s snowfall, with FDNY officials gathering at the scene to assess the damages.<\/p>\n
Martin Oblites told the Advance\/SILive.com he was at home when he heard what sounded like a bomb go off around 2:15 p.m. <\/p>\n
\u201cI went into my mother-in-law\u2019s room to check and the wall was caving in and the dresser was in the middle of the room,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
When Oblites went outside to check what had happened, he said he saw a large dent in the wall of his house. <\/p>\n
\u201cI saw a bunch of debris from the car, but nobody was there. The guy just took off, but my neighbor witnessed everything,\u201d Oblites said.<\/p>\n
His neighbor, Maryanne Miro, said she was shoveling snow when she heard a loud bang and saw a dark gray, mid-size SUV hit her neighbor\u2019s home.<\/p>\n
Miro said, \u201cI saw him, and he just drove by without a care in the world. He didn\u2019t stop. I actually waved at him so he could stop, and he completely ignored me. He just kept driving.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWith that kind of an impact, the license plate actually fell off the front fender of the truck. And unbeknownst to the driver that did this, he just drove away,\u201d Miro added.<\/p>\n
FDNY officials checked the structural stability of the premises to ensure it was safe for the family to return inside.<\/p>\n
