The three-year varsity player also had one four-point play and a pair of conventional three-point plays.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"XLG76AVSRZFFVFON6TKIGTUUH4\">Charles Gambino (16 points), Clevi Hoxha (10 points), Darin Humes-James (nine points) and Brayden Louisson (eight points) also contributed offensively for the Falcons, who improved to 14-6 overall, including 7-4 in league play.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"I2HPL54MOBG2BBCXYSR6PJMEIU\">Jaydel Martinez and Jesse Davis scored 24 and 19 points, respectively, for the Dutchmen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"RKXL7NFZXBFEPCJOOJNV7QOGNY\">\u201cIt was a good result to finish a very challenging week,\u2019&#8217; said SW head coach Danny Lanigan. \u201dWe definitely weren\u2019t our best defensively or on the boards and Erasmus plays with a great deal of effort and made some difficult shots.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"RLUMUNQZERGP3HDN2WKKRB5JYM\">\u201c(But Albano) obviously had another monster game and we needed it because our other shooters couldn\u2019t get much to fall,\u2019&#8217; the second-year coach continued. \u201d(Gambino) had another workman\u2019s double-double and (Louisson) finished with a career-high in points and rebounds that really helped contribute to today\u2019s win.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"RWBKLVNXBFDY7PXF6FJAWYKMG4\">Thanks to Albano\u2019s 17 points and Humes-James\u2019 nine markers, the Falcons took a 41-34 advantage into halftime.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"B4LYII2ICBF7ZN7XJJGHG7FC2E\">Albano then took over in the second half. The point guard finished with 24 markers and Gambino added 10 as the visitors cruised to victory.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"GW5JV7P6DVDMBBCEH6OAYFL4BA\">Petrides 70, FDR 63<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"2VMGJ7HUUBFBLNIXTU5NITVEKQ\">BROOKLYN, N.Y. \u2014 Daynell Rowland finished with a game-high 39 points as he led the Panthers to the non-league decision over the host Phantoms on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"4YYAWC7JI5GEPPS2WNEJTOOBA4\">Rowland played like he was making up for lost time because, in reality, he was. The junior was benched in the first quarter because he missed practice the day before, but he finished with six three-pointers and drained 9 of 12 free-throw attempts as he scored 30-or-more points for the fifth time this season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"SBFLNW6FOREHPGLMMDXFQB7WYY\">Aiden Gonzalez added 10 points while Kareem Nesbitt, Sonyboy Zintamus and Darien Niles combined for another 18 markers for the 4-12 Panthers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"VSN47VNDENGJZFK3FSPV5JJLKQ\">Kristopher Galarza finished with a team-high 19 points for FDR.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"IJDAO77NZZGJPJQ6KG3AOFZQDI\">The Panthers held a slim 49-47 advantage heading into the final quarter when Rowland saved his best for last. The guard poured in 18 fourth-quarter points, including his last two threes and 4 of 6 freebies, to help the Sunnyside school pull out the victory.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"HPA6YQ5XHRDPZB2ZOM7ET6NRMI\">Farrell 53, Fordham Prep 47<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"7HC5GSPJBBCDRHOUVXK33V4ZSQ\">STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 The older the season gets, the hotter the Lions\u2019 Ryan Hanley gets.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"Z7TUO7HGXRA4RHZTTGNLCOHT7Q\">Hanley topped his career high for the second straight game with 24 points and added 11 rebounds to lead Farrell to a 53-47 CHSAA A victory over the visiting Rams Saturday in Oakwood. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"LWXMP3KUJJFCPGPOLCLZ7NX3AY\">Hanley, who had two threes, went 4 for 4 from the free-throw line and blocked three shots, led a late run that helped the Lions avenge an early-season loss to the Rams.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"YX2RFUDNPFHHFEWMMODCWBX264\">Senior JJ Yates (six rebounds) added 15 points for Farrell, which improved to 8-7 overall, including 6-5 in league play.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"FIJGH7P37BFJVLSEKUHHUY4EKQ\">Hanley\u2019s performance overshadowed a brilliant performance by Fordham Prep senior Brian Kapfer, who finished with a game-high 30 points (six three-pointers). The Rams fell to 8-7 overall (4-6 CHSAA).<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"BJ6JRYAAYBALLKM6WIUEHCZ5RE\">Fordham tied the game at 47, but the Lions responded by going on a game-ending 6-0 run that propelled them to victory. The 6-foot-6 Hanley scored off a high-low feed from guard Jack Gomez with 2:30 left in the game.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"HACKEGZBYNDUTHAMNV5U22YKNM\">The teams went several possessions without either scoring, but with under 20 ticks to play, Hanley gave Farrell a bit of breathing room by connecting on two free-throw attempts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"CMGW66PPJZE7BFZJT4CKV4RMEM\">Yates, who was 6 for 6 from the line (Farrell was 11 for 12 overall) added two more freebies in the waning seconds to help provide the final score.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"NJ5CLSSQENEOFLIAP354HRH2Q4\">Hanley\u2019s 13 first-half points propelled Farrell to a 26-20 lead at halftime, but Kapfer\u2019s 15 third-quarter points \u2014 including four treys \u2014 helped the visitors narrow their deficit to two points (42-40) entering the final eight minutes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"NXOFXFHR25CHNIULULO7247QWY\">Hanley led Farrell with seven fourth-quarter markers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"QZVSOA5YGNFJ7ON2C6L64676KY\">SIA 70, Eagle Academy SI 48<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"S4PGDQFVBVADHDUI4FEEMSJLCM\">STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 It was Sweet 16 for the Tigers Saturday, as they registered the non-league victory over Eagle at SIA\u2019s Dongan Hills court. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"5HXR2LZOOJCAVJ3QNKVEYLZ2EA\">The win pushed the Academy\u2019s record to 16-0 on the season, continuing the Tigers\u2019 best start in school history. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"JY6MKPSLYNDVLPQH5X6WE7SUKY\">Luke DeVito paced the Tigers\u2019 attack with 22 points, including two three-pointers. Johan Wielens and Gabe Moschella added 11 apiece, and the backcourt of Danny Nowak and John Elefterakis (two treys) split 16 points. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"H5KSVZNKSBGZDDZZAY3EKGQBUI\">Armani Perez led Eagle with 20 points while Justin Webley added seven.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"QGY2ZTYFQZHXVPWFK3FYDEL4XM\">A 10-0 Tigers run in the second quarter opened things up for the hosts after a sluggish offensive start against Eagle\u2019s zone defense. Elefterakis, Moschella, DeVito, and Ayden Howe all forced turnovers during the run, as the Tigers entered halftime with a 36-20 lead. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"KJVTB2F4PBEOLBZJPKBHIMAPAA\">\u201cThis was the end of a grueling stretch,\u201d Tigers head coach, Mike Mazella, noted. \u201cWe played five games in eight days and a couple of those were real emotional contests, including the one last night when Danny hit his 1,000th point. It was a quick turnaround and we started a bit slowly, which is what we were afraid of. But our defense led to that run we had in the second quarter and helped put us in control.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"4U3DWYLO2ZE4TBUQDINOPPXETM\">Moschella came alive in the third quarter, posting seven points for SIA and Elefterakis and DeVito each buried a three-pointer to increase the Tigers\u2019 lead. Wielens, then, carried the load for the hosts in the final period, notching nine in the quarter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"PM65YS6IABF7LO42CTPFFMRL7A\">\u201cJohan did a nice job running the court today and finishing strong around the basket,\u201d Mazella observed. \u201cIf he plays with confidence and contributes for us, our game can go to another level.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"H4DN2AR2HVGKRHFB5N73EWFIJQ\">SIA, now 5-0 against Island competition, is off for almost a full week, as they await a pivotal matchup with Dwight at home on Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"6QVV3M6VAVAXTBPBXWCQDH2JEY\">\u201cRight now we hold the top two spots in the ACIS (SIA at 10-0 and Dwight at 8-1),\u201d Mazella offered. \u201cWe gave Dwight its only loss early in the season, but they\u2019ve been playing very well recently. I\u2019m sure they will want to get some payback for that loss, and I know it\u2019s going to be a battle when we meet next week.
