Here, snow covers the Corporate Commons Three in Bloomfield.(Advance\/SILive.com | Jan Somma-Hammel)<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"XWSTXTH5INDJLMRCQJWGK5EPHI\">\u201cIt\u2019s probably going to be the heaviest across the five boroughs I would say probably between 6 and 9 p.m. Those are when some of the heaviest rates will occur,\u201d Roys said. \u201c&#8230;That\u2019s when the best chance for accumulating snow on the pavement is likely to occur.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"ESQYH3AJ6JHBDBF6C2XGNP455A\">The day\u2019s weather pattern will include a brief afternoon reprieve before intensifying again. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"RASTSSZSBBEMNFJTLWYR3DT37I\">\u201cWe do expect a break, I would say probably early afternoon, but we expect that snow to kind of fill back in by mid to late afternoon,\u201d Roys explained. \u201cProbably some break anytime between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and then snow will start to build back in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"WPE63WKOAJAMVMSLQNZCOA6OTM\">According to Roys, the storm system tracked closer to land than initially predicted, resulting in accumulating snow rather than just a dusting. \u201cIt\u2019s being a little bit closer to land&#8230; just close enough to bring accumulating snow to much of the tri-state area,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"PZ7UZA22QFBD7AAGSXUVFDKVTA\">While most of the metro area will see 1 to 3 inches of snow, accumulation will vary depending on location. The \u201curban heat island effect\u201d may limit accumulation in parts of Manhattan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"NMXDSXSDP5E4DLK2YLDIY77FBA\">\u201cThe caveat is and the urban heat island effect playing a role, we\u2019re looking at Lower Manhattan struggling to see any true accumulation over an inch,\u201d Roys noted. \u201cAll the pavement temperatures that are above freezing or whatnot will have to come down to about 32 degrees or lower.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"TBPBDO6LXVFF7GSLZ2QGFEEJRI\">For Staten Island and other boroughs, snow will likely begin accumulating earlier, \u201cprobably around 3, 4 o\u2019clock,\u201d according to Roys.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"QPU5FY75XFFQFKTFDBBOIVHZKY\">Upstate regions can expect similar accumulation amounts. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"EA47TORITRDW7AH6BB2Z7HOP6Y\">\u201cSo you go anywhere up to Hudson Valley, you go up the freeway, you go up was that New York 17, basically 1 to 3 inches. You get towards Albany, about a quarter to an inch. You get up towards Binghamton, a quarter to an inch from this storm,\u201d Roys said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"FGTHPFHE2NFPTKRCL6YKYOUKRI\">The snowfall is expected to taper off by late tonight. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"LZCR7WVVLBDVZPRVU5EA2ITS4Y\">\u201cThat really should be coming to an end probably by 11 p.m.,\u201d Roys said. \u201cThe last flakes fly and everyone can start to clean up if they wish at 11 p.m.\u201d Temperatures will drop to around 25 degrees overnight, with sunny conditions and highs of about 33 degrees expected tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"YXVUYWHUFBDGXFETY4IVSFAHZ4\">Roys emphasized that residents should avoid travel during the evening hours if possible. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"ACYWKTEJQJGRRNZVCATHI6DI7U\">\u201cBasically if you could be off the roads, I would say this evening do so,\u201d he advised. \u201cIf you need to go to church, you have afternoon, late morning church services, need to go to the grocery store, whatnot, I would say get all of that done really prior to 5 o\u2019clock.
